For 2/3/26 Tuesday

Prediction: We’ve got a Winter Weather Advisory until 1pm, which makes a cancellation/FID a real possibility.  However, that would require the storm to be really bad.  Freezing rain should end somewhat early.  And there’s always a possibility of nothing actually happening.  Hence, I’ll put my money down on a 2-hour delay, with FID being a real possibility.

For 2/2/26 Tuesday

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM TO 1 PM EST TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total ice accumulations up to

  one tenth of an inch and snow accumulations less than one inch.

* WHERE...A portion of central Pennsylvania.

* WHEN...From 4 AM to 1 PM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous

  conditions could impact the Tuesday morning commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A light glaze of ice is expected late tonight

  and Tuesday morning, especially on the higher elevations.

MUWeather:  Another wave of low pressure will ride eastward along the boundary during that time and likely bring a mix of snow, sleet or freezing rain to northern MD and southern PA for a few hours Tuesday morning. However, it certainly does not appear to be a big event and more-or-less of the "nuisance" or "minor" variety. By the afternoon hours, strong, southwesterly flow will cause precipitation to change over to plain rain and temperatures to rise above freezing, so any issues (slick/slushy spots) on roadways will be confined to the morning hours. Periods of light-to-moderate rain may then continue through Tuesday evening before tapering off later Tuesday night. Amounts are uncertain at this distance, but a "first guess" would be for a general 0.50-1.00" of beneficial rain.

EPAWA:   An overrunning system will bring mixed precipitation into our region Tuesday morning. Warmer air aloft will allow for rain to fall, but with temperatures below freezing early in the morning, light freezing rain is expected. While it won’t be a lot of ice, and likely a few hundredths of an inch, it doesn’t take much to cause travel disruptions and challenges. As temperatures sufficiently warm above freezing by Tuesday afternoon, any ice will transition to plain rain showers.
