BIG storm Wednesday!

Looks like we’ll be getting around a foot of snow around here.  EPAWA and WGAL look like they’re in the “more than a foot” camp, while NOAA and AccuWeather are in the “under a foot” camp. Either way, it’s a VERY safe bet that we’ll have a cancellation Thursday. But what about an early dismissal Wednesday? Or a delay on Friday?  Well, let’s look at some of the factors…

Temps: are just above freezing during the day, but VERY cold at night

Timing: Starting late enough Wednesday that schools can get in their full day, even with it starting in the afternoon (in above freezing temps)

Wind: Debatable as to whether it will be an issue. Snow ratios will vary (light and fluffy vs. wet/heavy), with sleet mixed it overnight possibly.  Wind would move light and fluffy snow over the roads more often, but the above freezing highs and possible mixture with sleet might limit that as well.

Will it be all cleaned up by Friday morning delay time?  I don’t think so, but if the storm underperforms, it’s still possible.

OVERALL, I’ve got 3 predictions:

Wednesday: No early dismissals (80-20)

Thursday: No School (99-1)

Friday: No School (80-20)
